Laurianne was born in the land of Pork Pies. Not because that's where her family origins lie but because that just happens to be where they were at the time. With a family history of Chipperfield's Circus on her maternal side, and American Circus and TV on her paternal side, life would never be boring for Laurianne.
Being brought up in a household where you answered the phone with a business name, and doing bookkeeping at aged 11 for pocket money meant that Laurianne was commercially aware from a very young age. In fact, at aged 8, Laurianne and her parents were brought into her schoolteachers office as an ‘incident’ had occurred. Laurianne had been selling Happy Eater badges to her classmates. Although the teacher did say that ‘she’s not strictly doing anything wrong’, the kid’s parents were wondering where all their lunch money had gone!
Laurianne was sometimes conscientious, sometimes not, during school and University. However, she was proud to leave Nottingham Trent University in 2002 with a Ba Hons. in Design Management.
Using this to its full potential, and her love of all things creative, Laurianne has set up two strong Creative Industry businesses since her graduation. The most recent of which, an online business, (www.oimoi.com) won a ‘Best New Business’ Award in 2006, and is about to be taken over by a competitor.
In 2002, Laurianne became interested in her local Chamber of Commerce (Rotherham), and in 2005 was elected onto the Representation Council. In 2006, Laurianne was named as Chair of the Rotherham Chamber Women In Business group. Laurianne has since increased this groups activities from 4 to 8 events per year, including the massive South Yorkshire 4 Chambers Networking Event, where nearly 400 female delegates enjoyed the guest speaker, Ruth Badger, and networked together.
When people first meet Laurianne they can sometimes feel like they’ve been hit by a truck - or swept off their feet - either way they do not forget her. Of all of Laurianne’s diverse loves and interests, the main thing that stands out is her enthusiasm and pure enjoyment of taking on new challenges - and hitting targets in turn.
Laurianne currently undertakes freelance work in Communications and Events - the one thing you can guarantee is that no request will phase her. Current projects include a diverse list, including Business workshops for students and being a Burlesque compére.
Laurianne will add the ‘wow factor’ to any project she undertakes...
